Wednesday we met with our local guide and went to the "flea market" Pretty interesting place. The first thin Hannah, our guide, said as we got out the cab was, "Mind your purse and wallets." This meant that there are a lot of pick pockets there. No problems though. The market sold everything from flowers, beautiful flowers, to tea pots, jewelry, books, cd's, gold fish, live rabbits, and puppies. It was sad to see the little puppies. Much like going to the Humane Society. The vendors were willing to bargain a little. We made one purchase without Hannah's help. No idea what this woman was saying. They show you the price on a calculator. We had Hannah helped us with the next couple of purchases. We bought Maya 3 bracelets, 1 for Sheila, and a Children's Music CD in Mandarin. I thought it would be nice to hace some fun, familiar sounds. Hannah said it had a lot of popular Chinese kid's song on it.
Wednesday afternoon we took a nice long walk with Maya in the hip carrier. She was perfect. No fuss at all. Our travel mates were along with us and we were able to get to know them a little better. They are struggling with many of the same issues as us. The People's Park was gorgeous. It was huge too. The park was one of the cleanest I've ever seen.
Maya has a little cold. She woke up this morning around 3:30 A.M. coughing. We put some vicks on her chest and ran the hot shower in the bathroom for the steam. She fell back to sleep at 4:30 A.M. She awoke this morning at 7:00 A.M. She pulled herself up to her knees in the crib and was just looking around.
Pictures aren't loading well. I add more later.
Love ya!

Beautiful picture of Sheila and Maya under those lovely trees. Can't wait to hear more about all your adventures in China when we see you. Glad to hear that the Vicks and hot steam helped her. Hope Maya feels better soon......Scott and Sam
I agree, that's a great picture. Sounds like she is settling in a bit. Any more pictures with Tim holding Maya?
