Good Morning!  We had a good night's sleep again.  At least Maya did.  It was a little short for us.  Maya woke up around 4:30 A.M.  However, it was for a good reason.  She finally pooped. Yeah!  We gave her a bottle and she fell back asleep on the bed.  Wish I could.  Thanks for all the advice guys.  We will look for some prune juice or corn syrup today.  I found some corn baby food last night and mixed a little in with her chicken congee.  She wouldn't eat it straight from the jar.  We're hoping each day will get a little easier as Maya figures all of this out.
I have to say, this is all going pretty well for us.  Our travel mates are having a tougher time with their daughter, Charlotte.  She has been in foster care since January and misses her foster family alot.  She is 17 months old.  I hope they have more success.
As I think about this whole adoption process, I have come to respect all of the hoops we've had to go through.  The Chinese government takes this very seriously, (as do Sheila and I) because they really care about the welfare of these children.  Not to say It became very evident from the questions they asked us yesterday.  I see the long stay here as a positive as well.  The officials here want to be sure that the parents know exactly what they are in for.   I could tell that all of the people involved, from our local guide from Children's Home, the government officials, to the orphanage staff, all care a great deal about these children.
Today we are going to check out the local market with the other family and our guide Hannah.  Nanning is far less Westernized from Beijing.  I assumed it would be because Beijing is very Westernized for China.  All of the signs for businesses, streets, buses, (everything really) was written in Mandarin and English.  You could easily find a McDonalds, Dairy Queen, Starbucks, even a Sizzler, in Beijing.  Here in Nanning, hardly anything is written in English.  The hotel has English signs, but most of the people are very, very limited.  I did see one KFC yesterday, but that was about it.  We're OK with the lack of English because it gives us a new experience.  It only gets frustrating when you really need something specific. (Like Prune Juice)  Well, I think it's time to get motivated and organized for the day.  Talk at you soon.  Thanks again for all your comments and keep 'em coming.  We love it.

Love Tim.

So glad to hear she pooped! I recall a few conversations about rectal thermometers and, well, just glad Maya handled it on her own! Keep up the good work. The three of you look so happy!!

Yay! She did it! It's always so much easier to have them do it on their own. Don't look too hard for the corn syrup and prune juice now, she should be good. Just continue doing what you have been with mixing in baby foods that are high in fiber with her congee. You guys are doing a fabulous job! Have a great time today at the market, I'm sure you'll have lots of interesting stories to tell us about it when we see you....Sam and Scott
